Hello my lovely Year 2s!!
Now that we've had a week at home to start getting used to things, I thought it was time to make sure those brains of yours are still switched on! If they have turned off, switch them back on and head over to Purple Mash to check out the work I have set for you. There is:
Keep checking this page, Facebook and Purple Mash for the other tasks and challenges that you will be getting over the coming weeks. Remember to either send me a picture, email to let me know how you are all getting on and keep all your amazing work to show me in school when we are back!
To Parents and Carers
I hope the last week has gone as smoothly as it could have done, I know in my house 'home learning' has taken some getting used to! One child has definitely been more cooperative than the other! Please don't feel that there is any pressure on you to complete all the work that I set, complete as much or as little as you and the children feel able to. As well as the tasks listed above, Mrs Owen sent out a pack listing fabulous home learning resources that you can access online, so there is lots to choose from.
User names and passwords for Purple Mash, MyMaths and Times Tables Rockstars were all sent out on our last day, if in the craziness of last week anything has been misplaced then please don't hesitate to contact us on the new email address that Mrs Owen has set up and I will do my best to get details to you ASAP. The emails and pictures I have had through have made my day and I have loved seeing what the children are getting up to so please keep them coming!
Until we are back together again, hopefully in the not too distant future, be kind, keep safe and keep reading!
Welcome to Year 2!
Our class teacher is Mrs Swift and our teaching assistant is Mrs Yardley
Our topic for this half term is Explorers!
In English we are starting with a grammar focus and then moving onto the book, “The Pirates Next Door” by Johnny Duddle. We will build up to planning and writing their own narratives based on the text. As well as this, the children will be looking at the features of Non-Chronological Reports and writing their own including the features we have learnt.
In maths we are continuing to build and extend our ever developing skills set through practical and problem solving approaches.
We are really looking forward to our new school year together so keep checking back for updates and pictures of what we have been up to in
Phonics at Home|
In Year 2 we focus on recognising and using Phase 5 & 6 Phonics, click the link below for the sounds that your child will be learning in order to support them at home.
We went to Hesketh Bank Christian Centre to The Narnia Experience.
What a fabulous first few weeks we have had in Year 2!
We have investigated lots of maths concepts practically, visited the woods and even had a pirate and an explorer or two come to visit!
Today in Year 2 we have had a fabulous time exploring artefacts that we have borrowed from our Museum Loan Service. The children were encouraged to ask questions, make observations and investiagte the resources that we had in class.
