Year 2

Spring

|

Welcome to Year 2!

Our class teacher is Mrs Swift and our teaching assistant is Mrs Yardley

Our topic for this half term is The Farm Shop and we are focusing on what we can grow (and eat!).

We are starting this half term writing some poetry before moving on to 'Mossops Last Chance' which will give us chance to write our own narratives.

In maths we are continuing to build and extend our ever developing skills set through practical and problem solving approaches.

We are really looking forward to World Book Day which is coming up during this half term, so get your thinking caps on for who you can dress up as!

Keep checking back for updates and pictures of what we have been up to in

Year 2!

World Book Day 2019!

Wow! What an amazing day that we have had! The children got to investigate a crime scene and complete a special task to help rescue Mrs Harland-Say. Luckily we successfully completed our task and Mrs Hardland-Say was safely returned!

The children's costumes were fabulous and we all had a fabulous day!

Tasting

|

Fruit and Vegetable Tasting

As an introduction to our new topic, the children had the chance to taste different fruit and vegetables. I was very impressed with how many different flavours the children were happy to try, but the lemon didn't go down too well!

Science

|

Spring Science

Our topic this half term is On The Farm and we have taken the opportunity to do lots of planting and investiagtions around what plants need to grow. We are monitoring how our beans grow every week and the children are taking their 'watering roles'very seriously!

PDSA

PDSA Visit

We were very lucky today and had a visit from the PDSA. We took part in a really interesting workshop when the children learnt about how we care for our pets at home.

Summer Term 2019

I can't quite believe we are entering our last term in Year 2!

Along with our assessments we have a very full and exciting term to come.

Below is our Medium Term Plan, detailing what will be covered in each topic, along with a copy of our summer term topic letter.
