Welcome from the Headteacher

Welcome to Banks St Stephen's Church of England Primary School, and thank you for taking the time to visit our website.

My name is Gareth Allen, and I have had the privilege of being Headteacher at Banks St Stephen's since September 2023. I feel incredibly fortunate to lead such a wonderful school, filled with happy, caring children, dedicated staff, supportive families and a community that is proud of its school.

At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: every child has unique God-given talents waiting to be discovered. Our purpose is to help every child recognise those talents, develop them with confidence and courage, and use them to make a positive difference in their community and beyond. We believe education is about far more than academic success. It is about helping children discover who they are, where they belong and what they are capable of achieving.

Our vision is simple: to become the school children hate to miss. We want every child to arrive each morning excited about the opportunities ahead, knowing they will be challenged, encouraged, inspired and cared for. We strive to create a school where every day is filled with memorable experiences, meaningful relationships and a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.

As a Church of England school within the Liverpool Diocese and maintained by Lancashire County Council, our Christian values underpin everything we do. Our motto, "Belonging, Serving, Succeeding," reflects our commitment to ensuring every member of our school family feels valued, serves others with compassion and kindness, and achieves their very best.

We are proud to offer an ambitious and carefully designed curriculum that combines academic excellence with rich, real-life experiences. We want our children not only to achieve highly but also to develop confidence, resilience, compassion and the skills they need to thrive in an ever-changing world. Whether children are exploring our extensive outdoor environment, performing on stage, representing the school in sport, taking part in community projects or discovering new interests, we believe these experiences help every child uncover their unique talents and passions.

Our school is situated in a beautiful semi-rural setting between Preston and Southport, making it easily accessible for families from across the area. We are fortunate to have extensive grounds, including large playing fields, woodland, a pond and wildflower meadow, outdoor learning spaces, gardens, raised beds and a polytunnel that supports our gardening project, A Place to Grow. These wonderful facilities enable us to provide exciting outdoor learning opportunities throughout the year.

Banks St Stephen's is very much at the heart of the local community. We work closely with Liverpool Diocese, Lancashire County Council, The Hub, North Meols Parish Council, local businesses, charities and community organisations to provide opportunities that inspire our children and help them understand the importance of making a positive difference to the lives of others.

Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make, and there is no substitute for seeing a school in action. I would be delighted to welcome you to Banks St Stephen's, show you around and answer any questions you may have. Please contact our school office to arrange a visit or simply have a chat on the phone.

I also encourage you to explore our Facebook page, where you'll find a glimpse of everyday life at Banks St Stephen's and the exciting opportunities our children enjoy.

I look forward to welcoming you to our school.

Gareth Allen
