Subject Statement of Intent

At Banks St Stephen’s, we teach history to help children understand how the past has shaped their lives, their community, and the wider world. Through our theme of Land and Legacy, children learn about key events and people—starting with our local area of Banks and expanding to national and global history.  We make strong links to our local community, helping children explore how farming, local traditions, and nearby places like Southport have developed over time. By learning about where they come from, children begin to understand their place in the wider world.  Our lessons encourage curiosity, celebrate diversity, and help children see how things have changed over time. Everything we do is rooted in our Christian values of Belonging, Serving, and Succeeding
